Rest And Rule In The Midst Of The Storm!

Ruth 3:1
Then Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for you that it may be well with you?

Notice that rest comes first then it will go well.God wants us to rest first and then it will be well. This is just the opposite of what the world says. The world says when everything is okay then we will rest. But God says rest first and then everything will be okay.
God wants us to look to Him to find rest in the midst of the storm. In the midst of our trials and tribulations, things will go well if we rest in Him and His finished work.

Psalm 110:1-2
The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.” The Lord shall send the rod of Your strength out of Zion. Rule in the midst of Your enemies!

He causes us to rule with Him in the midst of our enemies. It does not say in the absence of your enemies but in the midst of them. We are to rule over stress and fear and anxiety and chaos and everything else that causes us not to be at peace by resting in His ability and in His power.

Psalm 23:4-6
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.

He prepares a banqueting table for us in the presence of our enemies. He does not always take the enemy out of the way but lavishes us with GOODNESS and MERCY in the presence of our enemies for them to see! He shows our enemies who is in control.

Mark 4:36-40
Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”

Who was asleep in the middle of the turmoil? Jesus was.
Who was resting in the midst of the storm? Jesus was.
Who was frightened for their very lives? His disciples.

Why were they afraid?
Because they did not know who they were with and they did not know they were in a relationship with HIM. They could have been asleep beside Him but they were looking at the storm and the circumstance which was very real and very dangerous and they were not resting because their faith was more in the storm than in who was in the midst of them.

We are to rest and not stress. Stress is known to be the number one cause of heart disease and failure. Stress will kill you. Rest will bring forth life and youth. Rest will bring you peace and joy. Rest will give you access to the Kingdom.
